A Tradition of Service
In operation for over 80 years, STEC is a Generation and Transmission Cooperative serving 9 member cooperatives of South Texas.
The Sam Rayburn facility is located on seventy-five acres in Nursery, Texas. Official commissioning of G1 and G2 occurred in 1964. STEC’s headquarters was moved from Foster Field (by the airport) to the Nursery location in 1981. In October 2003, the 186 MW combined cycle plant began operations.
STEC's mission is to provide the infrastructure and services to deliver reliable and economical electric power to a diversified membership.
